The residents of Kent Ohio and the students at Kent State University love their Black Squirrels so much they have an Annual Black Squirrel Festival to celebrate their furry black inhabitants.
The Black Squirrels of Kent, Ohio have an amazing history connecting them to the LUCKY Black Squirrels of London, Ontario Canada. These LUCKY world travelers have twice made the trip from Ontario to Kent Ohio, and today they are celebrated inhabitants of this university town.

Kent State University in Kent, OH holds an annual Black Squirrel Festival every fall on campus in front of the student center. There are small concerts and they sell t-shirts of the event. Mostly it’s like an outdoor market, but the City of Kent and the University are both seriously proud of their black squirrels.
The Black Squirrel Festival of Kent, Ohio takes place every September in Risman Plaza at Kent State University.
