The city of Hobbs, New Mexico with a population of 28 657 can no longer boast of a Black Squirrel population. For more information on the city of Hobbs, visit here.
Back in 1973 the city of Hobbs “borrowed” some Black Squirrels from Marysville, Kansas in order to establish themselves as a Black Squirrel Town. Upon turning them loose, the poor black devils were all killed by the red fox squirrels they’d imported earlier from Texas.
With the love that Marysville residents have for their Black Squirrels, I think they’ll be watching out for poachers from the city of Hobbs.
