LotterySquirrel.com has proclaimed February 1st to henceforth be known as “Ground Squirrel Day.” This will be a great way of kicking off Black Squirrel® History month.
On this day @ 10 AM just south of the bandshell and staff parking lot.
We will be looking to our two black squirrels, and mascots of Victoria-Park.com, Vicky and Albert (pictured below), for their predictions of either a shorter or a longer winter.
Like Groundhog Day held on February 2nd, on Ground Squirrel Day we will be watching for Vicky and Albert to see their shadows. Should both Vicky and Albert see their shadows, we are doubly doomed to have six more long weeks of winter. If, however, our two prognosticating ground squirrels do NOT see their shadows, then we will be blessed with an early spring!
And why two ground squirrels? Because two ground squirrels are more accurate than only one groundhog! That’s what makes our Ground Squirrel Day with Vicky and Albert more reliable than Wiarton Willie or Punxsutawney Phil. 
Plus, this Ground Squirrel Day – Monday, February 1, 2010 – we will be in Victoria Park in beautiful downtown London, Ontario at 10 AM to spot Vicky and Albert as they make their predictions for either an early spring or an extended winter.
To celebrate, we will have 10 Black Squirrel® Pins up for grabs! In order to get your own LUCKY Victoria Park souvenir lapel pin, just be one of the first ten people to show up and let us videotape you saying “I love black squirrels!” three times. We will be in the park from about 9:45 to 10:30 AM that day. Be on time – only 10 pins to be given away!
In addition, we will give a Black Squirrel Pin to any politicians who want to come out to Victoria Park and proclaim (on tape) that they love black squirrels too! (Note: Offer good for Monday, February 1, 2010 only.)
