Recently talking to a friend in Florida, the topic of lotteries came up (very unusual – LOL). Since Jan 2009, people in Florida can now play Powerball. The draw is held at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time [9:59 Central; 8:59 p.m. Mountain; 7:59 p.m. Pacific] in Orlando, Florida.
With Florida being the second home or home away from home for many Canadians, YES Canadians can legally play Powerball as a tourist. They MUST be in the state and the ticket must be purchased only from a terminal operated by a licensed retailer in a state that sells the Powerball game.
What Are the Odds?: Shark Attack In Florida?
The Powerball odds have changed, making the odds worse, in turn maybe increasing the size of the jackpots before being won. You have better odds of being attacked by a shark in Florida than winning Powerball, but playing Powerball is safer.
Canada’s worst odds lottery is Super 7 with 1 in 20,963,833, Powerball is almost 10 times worse than Super 7.
On my next trip to Florida, YES I will be playing Powerball with my Lucky Coin® in my pocket.
