If the OLGC wants to see more winners as they adverise why not make it more appealing? Have 50 one million dollar winners when the jackpot reaches 50 million and use 6 numbers out of 49 at that point.
I have not played either 649 or Payday or Super 7 since they took away a ton of lower numbers required to win.. It use to be 2 numbers got you a free ticket, not anymore, as well the prize pools for 3, 4 or 5 numbers have vertually vanished.. and now $5.00 for a Max ticket!! As far as I am concerned the Lottery officals can take the whole works and stuff them where the sun don’t shine.. Have fun playing.
I’m still shaking my head with this one… The odds of winning 649 is 1 in just under 14 million. The odds of winning this Max thing is half that. And yet, buying a Max ticket costs twice as much as 649.
Either the government is extremely stupid, or they think we are.
This is just a tax on the mathematically impaired.
Hi Bill
The true odds of 7 out of 7 will really upset you.
To figure out your odds of getting all seven numbers correct: (7/49)*(6/48)*(5/47)*(4/46)*(3/45)*(2/44)*(1/43)
To convert this to a fraction will make it easier to understand:
1/[(7/49)*((6/48)*(5/47)*(4/46)*(3/45)*(2/44)*(1/43)]
1/[(0.142857142857143)*(0.125)*(0.106382978723404)*(0.0869565217391304)*(0.0666666666666667)*(0.0454545454545455)*(0.0232558139534884)]
=1: 85,900,584 for a lottery player personally selecting the winning line of numbers for a 7 out of 7 top prize win (these odds do not apply to quick picks).
The lottery corporations are using a lower number based on a $5 play having 3 lines 28,633,528 (85,900,584/3 lines=28,633,528).
Lotto Max is far better in odds then USA lotteries like Powerball which has 1 in 195,249,054 or Mega Millions 1 in 175,711,536.
Both the Poweball & Mega Millions web sites are filled with photos of people who have won big. Group wins seem to be common to both when the jackpots are high. Group playing is a smart way to play.
Mega Millions and Powerball are both a dollar to play one line. If Lotto Max was $3 for 1 +2 bonus lines for one play – it would be easier to take.
The lotteries in Canada will be maximizing the exposure when we have a big winner. If I was to win the $50 Million myself, I would put stuff into storage, sell my house and claim the win about 3 days before closing. With today’s economy you would be safer just moving around a bit.
We guess Lotto Max could pay out the $50 Million maybe 3 to 5 times a year.
We expect about 24,000+ visits to this site in October alone. Lotto Max and people looking for information on it has been responsible for the surge. If Lotto Max goes to $50 Million, we expect to have over 40,000 visits for November.
If you want to play lotteries with better odds, click on the WIN BIG button in the third column.
yeah, sounds like the pigs at the trough are coughing at this one. What a S**M. I say save your money till it hits 50 million dollars and then buy a ticket, and even then you need all numbers to match to get a million dollars, what? what are the odds of that happening, IT won’t be long b4 they get wind of this and begin a new search for another lottery to try and grab an extra buck off you. which is why i quit playing lotto 6/49. I would be happy with a hundred thousand dollars, and if they had a system to share the prizes of 1 million dollars then i would buy more ticktets, who needs 50 million dollars anyways? can you imagine 500 happy people winning a hundred thousand dollars opposed to just 1 winning ticket? do you know how much money that would generate in sales and not to mention the spin offs it would create for our own economy, buying a house, a car, a holiday, home renovations, starting your own business, etc etc, you get the picture, if they say people wouldn’t buy tickets then you know there is some kind of conspiracy behind it, i say do a survey, and let the people vote on this won.
DON’T BUY UNTIL IT GETS TO 50,OOO,000
you will loose your money!!!
This is not just an OLG scam as it is Canada wide. They also only increase the Jackpot by $5 million each week that it is not won. They take a profit of 52% each draw which really only should be 25% as they already broke the original agreement between the people of Canada when they asked us (the people) if they could start the lottery to be an exclusive way to help the communities in Canada build sports facilities and programs and many other projects that otherwise would not be possible. Instead the just hand over the profits to the provincial Governments which in turn just put the monies into the general spending accounts. Fraud from the very beginning. Is there no one else that remembers the very premise that the Loto Corp. was even allowed to be formed, to even allow legalized gambling in this country?
Reduced odds of winning, 3$ extra per play, and a cap on the jackpot!
Any other way to say “money grab” to OLG, or “sucker” to those who play???
This lotto Max is all good but what is the prize breakdown,
7 of 7 Big Prize
6 of 7 What
5 of 7 What
4 of 7 What
3 of 7 What
Is there a bonus number???
Looks to me like you are just upping the big prize and just little prizes for the others?

Okay, first of all, I’m not upping anything. I have no affiliation with the OLG whatsoever. This is a blog belonging to a private citizen who happens to like to play lotteries — especially charitable lotteries.
Now, as to the prize structure, if you click on the following link, I have the info there (it came out in an earlier press release):
Goodbye Lotto Super 7 – Hello Lotto Max
The tickets go on sale in two days. You can also get in touch with the OLG to ask more questions here: OLG Contact Us
Although the Lotto Max has worse odds than Super 7, it does start out with a larger jackpot each time — $10 million to start. While tickets are $5, you’ll get a total of 3 plays for your $5. (Buy 1 ticket or line, get 2 extra lines included).
Good luck with your lottery playing!
