The AXE has fallen on the OLG – More Corruption Exposed

by Lucky on September 1, 2009

The gang at LotterySquirrel.com feel it is time to ask the federal government to run the lotteries in Ontario. The Ontario government has been plagued with numerous problems since CBC exposed the goings-on at the OLG in 2006.

If you live in Ontario, we are asking players to send non-winning lottery tickets to our prime minister, asking for the federal government to take control of the job of the OLG and stop the corruption. Mail going to the Office of the Prime Minister does not require postage by Canada post.

Ont. gov’t scrambles to control OLG scandal damage
The Liberals publicly released two years worth of expenses that were filed by OLG board members. They include:

  • gym memberships worth $250
  • Weight Watchers memberships
  • club link golf fees
  • a $1,500 bar tab at a $3,700 dinner for 38 people
  • a $500 nanny fee so that a vice-president member could attend meetings, an amount since repaid

The OLG acknowledged Monday that the spending was unacceptable for a public agency.

In the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2007, OLG had more than $6 billion in revenues, with net income of about $1.7 billion.
