WISTFUL Queenslanders are planning the shopping list of their dreams as they eagerly await Tuesday’s record $90 million Oz Lotto draw.More than a million Sunshine State punters are expected to invest in a ticket, hopelessly optimistic that they can beat the one-in-45 million odds of landing the winning numbers.
Golden Casket PR manager Karen Anning said most big winners paid off their mortgage, bought a new house, went on a fabulous holiday or helped pay their children’s education.
But sometimes the windfall wish list was much more modest.
“One lady said she was going to buy new curtains and a recent $10 million Powerball winner said all her children wanted were new Barbie dolls,” Ms Anning said.
But why be frugal? With a tax-free $90 million in the kitty, Tuesday’s winner could go on a shopping spree that would give any accountant a heart attack.
