Landscaping efforts paying off: We now have 2 BLACK SQUIRRELS

We are getting into the home stretch with our landscaping efforts. Pictured above is 4 yards of pine bark mulch we will be top dressing our newly created garden areas and the money tree.
One person had to take pictures for this blog while the other one worked.

Our mulch was to be a Saturday delivery but because of the rain, Baseline Nurseries and Garden Centre called us wanting to know if we wanted it delivered Wednesday, later in the day from ordering it. Wow — same day service.

We said great and said we will be waiting. Michelle the salesperson /worker who took the order delivered the mulch herself because she was excited to see the MONEY TREE on the front lawn and the trees we purchased from the company she works for.

We called around for prices for 4 yards of mulch and were surprised by the delivery charges some companies are charging. The one landscaping business within eyesight from our front lawn wanted to charge $69, even though we told them where we live is under 2 minutes away. Another nearby company wanted to charge a $75 delivery fee.

Baseline Nurseries and Garden Centre which is about 10 km /6.2 miles away only charges $55. With today’s economy people are shopping around. The price of the mulch also varied, but Baseline Nurseries and Garden Centre had the BEST price saving us $45+ over competitors. The $45 difference paid for the pizza and beer for that day.

We do not just always go for the lowest price. The deciding factor to purchase from Baseline Nurseries and Garden Centre was the salesperson Michelle. She is a person who enjoys her job and deals with customers with a friendly smile which is a motto for customer service. Having a friendly staff that deals with the public = sales and repeat sales. For any company fortunate to have an employee like Michelle, consider maybe attaching a $50 gift card for a restaurant to their next pay check or maybe even calling them into the office before lunch to give them the rest of the day off — or even a day off with pay. Doing this at random will increase productivity and really boost sales.

PART TWO

Looking out our back screen door I saw 2 black squirrels today. We were both excited to see we have doubled our supply of live LUCKY BLACK SQUIRRELS. I told my wife if we plant it they will come, just like the baseball movie – if you build it he will come.
